Balanced Weight Distribution
The increased overall outsole width ensures that your body weight is spread out more evenly, reducing the pressure points on your feet. This even weight distribution enhances comfort during various activities. For those with lower arches and flat feet, you will find that this is a big improvement. But for those with high arches, you may feel very little, to no difference.
Enhanced Outsole
The Primal 3 is made with our Widest Fit Last, just like the Primal 2. The difference is that we developed a new outsole on the Primal 3 with a wider footprint for more ground contact underneath the foot.
Higher Sidewalls
When examining the Lems Primal 3 from a lateral view, you may notice a visual difference — the sidewalls now wrap up higher on the sides. This is a deliberate design choice aimed at improving both fit and lateral stability. The higher side walls provide a snugger fit around the contours of your feet, cradling them comfortably.

GREAT, if you get the right size
I've been wearing these boots every day (and I mean *every* day) since I got them in October of 2024. Context: I usually walk about 3-4 miles a day, just as my commute, so almost all of it is on concrete. There's rarely a day I walk less than mile--so these boots have seen some use! I live somewhere it regularly snows and rains. I've been wearing zero-drop shoes for about a year now (and spent much time barefoot before then), and wear sandals in the summer months.
Pros:
- The soles on these shoes might actually be indestructible. Again, I've been wearing these shoes EVERY day for five months, and the soles look like they're right out the box. I'm incredibly impressed.
- They just look great. I was somewhat shunned by my friends and families while wearing my Earthrunners (complete with toe socks) in the summer; I've since been re-accepted with these.
- The waterproofing works extremely well. Though some of the stitching has come undone (see cons), the waterproofing hasn't been affected at all. My feet are as dry in the rain, slush, and/or snow as they are in better weather.
- Relatedly, the insulation is fantastic. Not too warm, and not too cold.
- The design of the shoe makes them comfortable and relatively easy to take on and off.
Cons:
- You simply MUST get a *full* size up from your normal shoe size. If not, the many benefits of the wide toe box and shoe structure are just entirely lost on you. I only got a half size up, which I thought was fine for the first few weeks…

Happy with the grip!
I got these because I slip and fall every winter. I've had a few icy days to try these out now, and I haven't lost my footing so far. I'm very happy.
I have traditionally worn size 37, but I got these in 39, and I feel like I made the right call. In winter, I wear socks, tights and then another pair of thicker socks, and it all fits comfortably in 39s.
I like how they look too.
I've added some reflective tape on mine for safety. Maybe something like that should come built in?
These are the most costly wearable item I own now, so I really wish it came with some care instructions. I want them to last as long as possible!
