Balanced Weight Distribution
The increased overall outsole width ensures that your body weight is spread out more evenly, reducing the pressure points on your feet. This even weight distribution enhances comfort during various activities. For those with lower arches and flat feet, you will find that this is a big improvement. But for those with high arches, you may feel very little, to no difference.
Enhanced Outsole
The Primal 3 is made with our Widest Fit Last, just like the Primal 2. The difference is that we developed a new outsole on the Primal 3 with a wider footprint for more ground contact underneath the foot.
Higher Sidewalls
When examining the Lems Primal 3 from a lateral view, you may notice a visual difference — the sidewalls now wrap up higher on the sides. This is a deliberate design choice aimed at improving both fit and lateral stability. The higher side walls provide a snugger fit around the contours of your feet, cradling them comfortably.
Zero-Drop Platform
Just like the Primal 2, the Primal 3 is built on a zero-drop platform which keeps your heel and toes level, mimicking your natural barefoot position on a flat surface.

Great barn boot!
I wanted a barn boot that was waterproof, easy to put on and take off, and was feet friendly. This checks all the boxes and am very happy with the purchase. The pricing is high so hoping they last for a long time. My standard barn boot was an Ariat but that brand does not provide anatomically correct footwear so the Chelsea will be my go-to footwear. The only improvement would be an addition of a heel cap to aide in removing the boot. It has the heel tab to help with putting them on but when feet are a little hot/sweaty it's harder to get them off.

My favorite shoes
I am thoroughly impressed with the Lems Chelsea boots. They have exceeded my expectations in every way. I wore these boots while backpacking across three different countries, and they performed exceptionally well—keeping water out, offering the perfect sole thickness, and providing a beautiful shade of dark brown. Plus, they’re just cute!
The new matte black shade is incredibly stylish, and I love that it uses the same material as the dark brown. I’m planning to get another pair in dark brown (my current ones are still in great shape, but I want a fresh pair after putting so many miles and dirt on them) and one in black. I’ve never been so impressed with a shoe that I felt compelled to come back and write a review two years after purchasing. I couldn’t recommend these shoes more highly. Additionally, Lems customer service has been top-notch, with helpful support for sizing and a smooth process for shipping and exchanges

These boots are so comfy and not at all sloppy like some other waterproof boots. So glad I got them.
