Balanced Weight Distribution
The increased overall outsole width ensures that your body weight is spread out more evenly, reducing the pressure points on your feet. This even weight distribution enhances comfort during various activities. For those with lower arches and flat feet, you will find that this is a big improvement. But for those with high arches, you may feel very little, to no difference.
Enhanced Outsole
The Primal 3 is made with our Widest Fit Last, just like the Primal 2. The difference is that we developed a new outsole on the Primal 3 with a wider footprint for more ground contact underneath the foot.
Higher Sidewalls
When examining the Lems Primal 3 from a lateral view, you may notice a visual difference — the sidewalls now wrap up higher on the sides. This is a deliberate design choice aimed at improving both fit and lateral stability. The higher side walls provide a snugger fit around the contours of your feet, cradling them comfortably.
Zero-Drop Platform
Just like the Primal 2, the Primal 3 is built on a zero-drop platform which keeps your heel and toes level, mimicking your natural barefoot position on a flat surface.

We've re-designed the original Lems Last for a more active fit. This new sneaker features a natural-shaped toe box, paired with a slim heel fit.

The upper is made of durable materials that stand up to the abuses of trails, and also daily wear and tear.

LOW HEEL DROP

With 4mm of drop, compared to the traditional 12mm of drop, the Trailhead naturally decreases heel-striking for a more natural gait and healthier posture.

Want to give this shoe a 5
I bought this to permanently replace my Xero TerraFlex 2. I use these shoes for hiking, dog walking and garden work. I've owned 5-6 pairs of TerraFlex's since they were introduced. They are light weight, comfortable and are just high enough at the ankle to keep dirt and debris out. But the manufacturing and material quality is the worst in any shoe I've ever owned. My current pair has holes in forming in the uppers and was bought in April of this year (it's November). So I have been in the market for a long term replacement. The Trailhead looks like a perfect match. It is definitely of higher quality material and manufacture. It would be a 5 star pick if it weren't for one thing: the width. It's a bit tight. My feet are used to a wide barefoot toe box. Please Lem's: redesign this to have the width of the Primal 3 and I will buy them for the rest of my life.

My All Around Favorite Shoe
I have 2 pairs of the Trailhead originals and they are my go-to for nearly every occasion. Super comfortable & breathable and the toe-box feels better suited to my foot than the Mesas (which I also really like). Sizing is spot-on for me and there are no pain-points even after a full day of walking. I recommend them to anyone who willingly, or reluctantly, listens.

Awesome Shoe
I've purchased 3 pair of the Trailhead Original in the past few years. The shoe is solid, fits very well. Its easy to clean and hold its shape. I wear my Trailhead shoes for work and on the weekends. I can't say enough about this shoe. I hope Lems continues to manufacturer this style for years to come.
