Decent looking athletic shoe alternative
I have been struggling to find work appropriate shoes with a wide toe box but not a super wide heel for a "pizza shaped" low volume foot. These little black high tops fit the bill. While still more casual than a dress shoe, they work far better with dresses and "business casual" than athletic styled shoes. I've been wearing them for a couple of months at home, at work, and out and about without issues. I would not recommend them for long walks/hikes, but for a basic, decent looking shoe that fits my foot shape, they work!

Superb
After much research and several shoe purchases, I bought a pair of Primal Zen (black) and wanted you to know these shoes are absolutely the best shoes I've had on my feet in a very long time. After I gave the shoes a run, I went back and bought another pair in white. Which then led me to the Chukka Grip. All I can say is WOW. You guys understand shoes and more importantly - feet.

Cute, slightly dressier shoe - dog hair magnets!
As someone searching for a more elevated shoe with a wider toe, but who also prefers laces for heel stability (so no wide flats), the Chukka Grips are amazing. They are casual enough to look great with jeans, but I've been able to wear them with leggings and dresses and feel a lot less self-conscious than I do with straight athletic styles. My one gripe about these shoes is that the fabric is a magnet for dog hair -- I have to lint roll them before every wear. The good news is that they are machine washable on gentle cycle (remove inserts and laces, then air dry). I ordered my usual size and they fit perfectly.
